The George Hotel is a 17th Century townhouse enjoying a wonderful location nestling on the water’s edge between the castle and pier in the bustling harbour town of Yarmouth.
This magnificent building is steeped in history and was once home to the most noteworthy of the Island’s Governors, Sir Robert Holmes who often entertained King Charles II.
Today the country house interior with its sweeping staircase, ancient panelling, uneven floors and stone flags is complemented by smart contemporary flourishes.
The 17 bedrooms are individually designed, many with spectacular views of the Solent or the vibrant harbour.
Whether you’ve spent the day exploring the Island, walking the coastal path, or simply relaxing with the papers, it’s lovely to come back to a comfortable room at the end of the day.
Our rooms are both stylish and relaxing – they are supremely comfortable, with large fabulous beds, crisp white linen, plump pillows, well equipped bathrooms and a generous supply of tea, coffee and biscuits.
Many have spectacular sea or harbour views – wake up to the gentle lapping of the sea on our shingle beach!
