This delightful stone cottage is located on a 400 acre arable farm which is also home to a small number of cattle, sheep and free range chickens. It is located on the south east side of the island within a 5 minute drive of the beach. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with footpaths leading from the cottage across the farm and joining a network of routes including the renowned Stenbury Trail which links Ventnor with the central market town of Newport and its dramatic castle of Carisbrooke. The larger sandy beaches of Ventnor and Shanklin are within a 10 minute drive. This Isle of Wight cottage at Whitwell sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms.
This lovely stone cottage has been skillfully converted from an old blacksmiths shop to provide charming accommodation for four people. It is a single story property which is centrally heated and has been equipped to a high standard. There is a delightful open plan living room with comfortable corner sofas beside large windows, a flat screen television/Freesat/DVD player; a small dining area and a well equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker/hologen hob, microwave, refrigerator with icebox, and slim-line dishwasher. (Washing machine/tumble dryer in a separate utility room). Patio doors open from the living room into a fenced courtyard with open views across the fields. Two steps lead up to a hallway giving access to two charming bedrooms – one ‘king size’ double room with a fitted wardrobe and a pretty twin bedroom plus a bathroom with bath, overhead ‘Mira’ sport electric shower, basin and wc. A travel cot/high chair can be made available. Central heating and electricity provided without extra charge.
The cottage has a fenced courtyard with garden furniture and a barbecue. Here visitors can relax whilst enjoying the wonderful views across the farm. A gateway opens from the courtyard onto a graveled area at the side of the property where two cars can be parked. There is access from here directly onto an open grassy field which visitors are welcome to enjoy and can join a footpath which leads into the centre of Whitwell where there is a public house for meals and lovely church – a 20 minute walk away. Outbuildings are available for bikes to be stored. Nearby places to visit include Ventnor Botanical Garden, the picturesque village of Godshill, The Donkey Sanctuary and Blackgang Adventure Park.
